Pueblo is heading into a cooler, wetter weekend as a cold front crosses Colorado on Friday, Oct. 23. The city’s forecast lists a high of 80 degrees and a low of 52, with rain chances increasing over the weekend. Across much of the region, Friday will offer a final stretch of warmth before temperatures fall.

Morning temperatures in Pueblo were forecast in the 50s, with breaks in the clouds allowing more sunshine and afternoon warming. The front is expected to bring additional cloud cover and help generate storms farther south. On Pueblo’s south side, the chance of rain Friday is about 10% to 20%, ahead of a more substantial increase in rain chances during the weekend.

Along Interstate 25, sunshine was expected to emerge around 10 a.m. as morning clouds cleared. The front, advancing from the west, could support thunderstorms farther east and a few storms along the southern portion of the interstate. Colorado Springs has a forecast high of 73 and a low of 47. As the front moves through Friday and into Saturday morning, temperatures will fall, with Saturday’s high reaching only the 50s.

Canon City could see a few afternoon showers, although most locations are expected to remain dry. Rain chances are around 20% to 30%, with a high of 75 and a low of 49. Woodland Park’s forecast calls for a high of 58 and a low of 39, with afternoon clouds following sunshine earlier in the day and rain chances arriving for the weekend.

Monument and the surrounding Tri-Lakes area have a forecast high of 69 and a low of 43, followed by Saturday highs in the 50s. Farther south, Walsenburg and Trinidad are expected to reach 73 and 74, respectively, with lows of 49. Friday is forecast to be their warmest day over the next seven days, before weekend highs drop into the 50s.

The eastern plains could see thunderstorms return by Friday evening after a sunnier start, with afternoon temperatures in the 70s and 80s and lows in the 50s. In the mountains, forecast highs are in the 60s and lows in the 30s. Lingering moisture and flooding remain concerns in southwestern Colorado, where water levels may take time to recede.

Conditions are expected to become calmer next week, with sunshine, some partly cloudy skies and temperatures gradually warming into the 60s. The preliminary Halloween outlook calls for temperatures in the 50s and 60s and dry weather, though that forecast could change.
