The University of Texas women's basketball team will face Baylor in an exhibition game on Thursday instead of Eastern New Mexico. UT confirmed the schedule change on Wednesday, noting that Eastern New Mexico could not travel due to a lack of available players.
The contest remains scheduled for 7 p.m. at Moody Center. Admission to the game is free for fans. Baylor provides a higher level of competition than the Division II Greyhounds, offering the Longhorns a more rigorous preseason test.
Texas holds a 62-50 advantage in the all-time series against the Bears. The two programs have met only once since Texas departed the Big 12 conference following the 2023-24 season. Baylor enters the season without an AP ranking, though voters cast 28 ballots for the team. The Bears are predicted to finish third in the Big 12 this year.
Baylor's roster features senior guard Taliah Scott. The team also includes several high-profile transfers, such as Skylar Jones from Louisville, Kate Koval from LSU, Reese Ross from Utah, Tianna Thompson from Ole Miss, and Trinity Turner from Georgia.
Texas currently sits at No. 6 in the AP preseason poll. The Longhorns have already played exhibition games against No. 2 UConn and No. 11 UCLA earlier this month. The team will begin its regular season campaign on Nov. 4 with a home matchup against Fairleigh Dickinson.
