Ahmad Hardy played for the Missouri Tigers on Saturday night at Arkansas, marking his return to the field nearly six months after being shot in the leg. The No. 23 ranked team defeated the Razorbacks 34-10.

Hardy entered the game late in the first quarter to applause from the Missouri fanbase. He completed two rushing attempts for a total of five yards. His return concluded a lengthy absence that began in May.

The injury occurred on May 10 while Hardy attended an outdoor concert in Laurel, Mississippi. He was a bystander when he sustained a gunshot wound to the leg. Police arrested a suspect and charged the individual with two felony counts of aggravated assault.

Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz disclosed this week that the 20-year-old required surgery to insert a metal rod into his femur. Few public details exist regarding the full extent of Hardy's injuries prior to that statement.

Hardy credited his recovery to daily support from coaches, staff, and players. He stated that taking game contact felt familiar and that his body was fully healed. He also noted that reading his Bible and staying close to teammates helped him manage the mental toll of being off the field.

Jamal Roberts, the team's leading rusher before the game, recorded 138 yards and a touchdown against Arkansas. Roberts observed that Hardy remained in good spirits and emotional about the situation he had overcome.

Drinkwitz expressed pride in Hardy's performance during his postgame comments. He described the path back to the field as a difficult challenge for everyone involved. The coach highlighted Hardy's contribution to a key first down during the contest.
