Ahmad Hardy returned to the Missouri Tigers offense on Saturday night in Fayetteville, Arkansas, ending a six-month absence from professional-level competition.
The No. 23-ranked team welcomed Hardy with a loud ovation from its supporters as he entered the game late in the first quarter. He had not played since May 10, when he was shot in the leg as a bystander during an outdoor concert in Laurel, Mississippi.
Coach Eli Drinkwitz stated that the 20-year-old required a metal rod to be inserted into his femur following the incident. Police charged the suspect with two felony counts of aggravated assault, though the full extent of Hardy's injuries has remained largely private.
During the 2025 campaign, Hardy set a school record with 16 touchdowns and accumulated 1,649 rushing yards. In his absence this season, senior Jamal Roberts has anchored the rushing attack. Roberts entered the weekend with 867 yards and eight touchdowns, leading the Southeastern Conference with an average of 123.9 yards per game.
Hardy last faced this opponent in November 2025, when he rushed 27 times for 157 yards and a touchdown in a 31-17 Missouri victory. That performance ranked as his third-best statistical output of the year.
