52 days remain before December 25

Christmas arrives on December 25, 52 days from today.

Spanish households can construct festive trees using five categories of recycled materials. This approach reduces costs and repurposes items that typically end up in the trash. The method allows families to create personalized decorations while minimizing household waste during the holiday season.

Cardboard boxes serve as the primary structural material for one design. Builders cut two identical tree silhouettes from the cardboard. They create openings in each piece to interlock them securely. The structure is painted green and decorated with stars or ribbons. This method requires only basic cutting tools and paint.

Toilet paper rolls form the base of another design. Users paint the tubes in various shades of green. They arrange the tubes in rows to form a triangular shape. The pieces are glued together to maintain stability. Buttons, pom poms, or small figures complete the decoration.

Plastic bottles offer a durable option for tree construction. Owners cut the bottles into different sizes. They organize the pieces from largest to smallest to create a tree silhouette. The components can be painted and enhanced with shiny details. Newspaper and magazine pages also function as building blocks. Readers roll the pages into tubes and join them to form a tree shape. The finished structure is painted and topped with a star.

Plastic caps provide a modular alternative for holiday decor. Collectors gather caps in different colors. They glue the caps onto a cardboard base in a triangular pattern. Varying the size and color of the caps creates a unique visual design. These projects offer a low cost way to prepare the home for the holidays.

The countdown to the holiday season has started. The date of December 25, 2026, marks the end of the 52 day waiting period. Families can use the coming weeks to plan gifts and organize decorations.
