For the first time, a new flagship electric vehicle from BYD will debut outside of China. The car is set to launch in the United Arab Emirates, a strategic move that signals the manufacturer is ready to compete in the ultra-luxury segment on a global scale. While a specific date has not been announced, the event is expected to happen within the current month.

The new model is the largest and most opulent sedan in the company's history. Its physical dimensions are comparable to the Rolls-Royce Phantom, with a length estimated at roughly 216 inches. This design places it in direct competition with high-end marques like Bentley and Mercedes-Maybach. It is a significant departure for a brand that became famous in China for affordable options, such as the Seagull hatchback which costs under $10,000.

This launch represents the apex of BYD's expanding product range. The company now offers a wide spectrum of vehicles, from entry-level electric cars to pickup trucks and three-row SUVs. The brand is organized into several sub-brands, including Denza, FangChengBao, and Yangwang. The Yangwang division sits at the top of this hierarchy and is designed to showcase the latest technological advancements. Previous models in this line featured a quad-motor system producing 1,300 horsepower and a body control system that allowed the vehicle to jump or drive on three wheels.

The new sedan is packed with cutting-edge hardware that has not been used in a BYD vehicle before. It features rear-hinged coach doors, a design choice previously reserved for ultra-exclusive cars. Furthermore, it is reportedly the first model to utilize the company's solid-state battery technology. Executive vice president Stella Li previously stated that BYD's first solid-state battery vehicle would appear in 2027, making this early arrival noteworthy. The car was also spotted at a BYD charging station, suggesting it supports high-speed megawatt flash charging.

Yangwang executives have promised that the car will include unprecedented disruptive technology, though they have kept the specific details under wraps. Zheng Yu, the executive general manager of the brand, confirmed these claims without providing a full technical breakdown. Test images released last month showed the vehicle in a heavy camouflage wrap, but its silhouette clearly matched the proportions of top-tier luxury sedans.

The pricing is expected to be steep, starting in the range of 2 million yuan, which translates to approximately $300,000. This price point is significantly higher than the brand's current most expensive mass-produced vehicle, the U8L plug-in hybrid SUV, which starts at about $217,000. It is also well above the U7 electric sedan, which begins at $98,000. This move establishes a new ceiling for the brand's value proposition.

The decision to launch in the UAE highlights the region's growing importance for high-end electric vehicles. By targeting this market first, the automaker is testing its luxury credentials in a region with high disposable income and a strong interest in premium automotive technology. This launch will serve as a critical benchmark for how global buyers perceive the brand's entry into the ultra-luxury space.
