Anthony Lloyd left a secure medical facility in Lewisham shortly after 4pm on Friday. The Metropolitan Police said the 38-year-old forced his way out of the health unit. He is now being searched for across London and parts of the southeast.
Police describe Lloyd as a white man with a medium build and short dark hair. He stands about 5ft 8in. When last seen, he was wearing a grey-blue T-shirt, black tracksuit bottoms, and white trainers. Officers believe he may be in the Catford area, where he was spotted heading toward at about 4.10pm on Friday.
The force issued a public appeal on Saturday. Det Supt Melanie Pressley, who is leading the search, warned that Lloyd poses a risk to himself and the public. She instructed witnesses to call 999 immediately if they see him and to avoid approaching him directly.
Lloyd was convicted in 2025 of actual bodily harm. The offense stemmed from an incident in Nottinghamshire involving three emergency services workers. He received a 12-month custodial sentence and was moved to the Lewisham facility in September.
Investigators say Lloyd has connections to several areas outside London. These include Surrey, Sussex, Thames Valley, Hampshire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, and Merseyside. Consequently, the search has expanded to cover these seven counties in addition to the capital.
Pressley urged residents to share any information, no matter how small, that could help locate the inmate. Officers are conducting multiple inquiries to return him to custody. Anyone with details should call 999 and quote reference CAD4739/23Oct.
