Green Bay led 27-10 with just over five minutes left in the fourth quarter, a margin that would not survive the final push by the Carolina Panthers. The Packers, now 5-3, held on to win 27-19 in a game defined by defensive pressure and a late scramble.
Jordan Love completed 30 of 41 passes for 288 yards, throwing three touchdowns to Tucker Kraft, Matthew Golden, and Josh Jacobs. He also threw one interception. Jacobs added two scores on the ground and in the air, rushing for 39 yards on 21 carries against the league's bottom-ranked run defense.
The Packers' defense recorded six sacks on Panthers quarterback Bryce Young, who finished with 209 yards, one touchdown, and one interception on 23 of 41 attempts. Carolina's Chuba Hubbard carried 22 times for 81 yards and a touchdown, also catching seven passes for 38 yards.
Carolina cut the deficit to 19 points with 5:37 remaining when Young connected with Jalen Coker on a 26-yard fourth-down pass. The following two-point conversion attempt failed. The Panthers regained possession at their own 45-yard line but punted on downs with 2:41 left. A final drive from the 20-yard line ended when Dani Dennis-Sutton sacked Young with 22 seconds remaining and no timeouts left.
Packers safety Javon Bullard called the defensive unit special, while linebacker Isaiah McDuffie stated he believes the sky is the limit for the group. Love noted the offense needs to clean up its late-game execution. "Late in the game, it wasn't good enough," Love said.
Packers receiver Christian Watson returned to the field after suffering a chest injury and a broken rib on a 53-yard catch in the second quarter. He finished with eight receptions for 113 yards. The Packers also honored former CEO Bob Harlan during halftime, unveiling his name on the stadium facade.
The Panthers, who are 3-4, host Denver on November 8. Green Bay travels to New England on the same date.
