Pueblo residents have one final day of warmth before a cold front arrives from the west, dropping temperatures by 30 degrees over the weekend. The city is forecast to reach a high of 80 degrees and a low of 52 on Friday, marking the peak of the current warm spell.
Morning conditions in Pueblo will start in the 50s with breaks in the cloud cover allowing for sunshine. As the front advances, cloud cover will increase, bringing a 10% to 20% chance of rain on the south side of the city. The more substantial increase in precipitation is scheduled for the weekend.
Along Interstate 25, sunshine is expected to emerge around 10 a.m. The moving front may trigger thunderstorms farther east and along the southern portion of the interstate. Colorado Springs is forecast to reach 73 degrees with a low of 47, while temperatures in the eastern plains will hit the 70s and 80s before thunderstorms return by evening.
Other locations in the region will see varying degrees of warmth. Canon City has a high of 75 and a 20% to 30% chance of afternoon showers. Woodland Park will top out at 58 degrees, and the Tri-Lakes area around Monument will reach 69 degrees. Farther south, Walsenburg and Trinidad are forecast to hit 73 and 74 degrees, respectively.
By Saturday morning, the front will have passed through, causing highs to fall into the 50s across the region. Mountain areas will see highs in the 60s and lows in the 30s. In southwestern Colorado, lingering moisture and high water levels remain a concern as they take time to recede.
Conditions are set to improve next week with sunshine and partly cloudy skies. Temperatures will gradually warm into the 60s. The preliminary outlook for Halloween calls for dry weather and highs in the 50s and 60s, though forecasters note this projection could still change.
