The Minnesota high school football regular season concluded Friday night with a series of decisive results across the state. Roseville claimed the Metro Maroon subdistrict title after defeating Coon Rapids 24-14.
The Raiders finished the season with a 4-4 record, their best mark since 2017. Senior quarterback Chase Browning led the offense with 162 passing yards and three touchdown passes. Browning described the victory as an amazing feeling after a season of hard work.
Other East Metro teams secured strong positions for the postseason. Centennial beat Anoka 38-6, holding the Anoka offense to six points for the first time this season. The result likely guarantees Centennial a No. 3 seed in the Class 6A playoffs. Mounds View took the Metro East title by beating White Bear Lake 22-16. Tanner Jude scored on a one-yard run with 65 seconds left, and a two-point conversion gave the Mustangs a six-point lead before Preston Johnson intercepted a pass to end the game.
Forest Lake running back Mack Jurkovich finished the season with 1,600 rushing yards. He ran for 245 yards and two touchdowns in a 31-13 win over Stillwater. The victory locks up a No. 2 seed for the Rangers. Jurkovich has committed to play college football at St. Thomas.
Lakeville South stunned Rosemount in the south metro with a 17-14 upset. Sophomore kicker Dylan Nelson kicked a 36-yard field goal with one second remaining to win the game. The result complicates the seeding picture for Class 6A teams in that region. East Ridge defeated Woodbury 42-31, with Logan Tretter running for two touchdowns. Park beat Eastview 18-10 as Manny Vargas scored twice, including a 75-yard punt return.
The Class 6A playoffs begin next week. Teams will be placed into brackets based on their regular season results and subdistrict standings.
