The Philadelphia Eagles average fewer than 4.0 yards per play across three straight games, a first for the franchise since 1999, and they have been out-gained by 108.3 total yards per game this season. That figure ranks worst in the NFL. Running back Saquon Barkley is active for Monday night's Week 7 game against the Dallas Cowboys at Lincoln Financial Field.
The Eagles remain without quarterback Jalen Hurts, who is expected to miss the rest of the season after blood clots were found in his lungs. Wide receiver DeVonta Smith is out with a hamstring injury. Barkley was listed as questionable with a hamstring injury ahead of the matchup. He returned to practice as a limited participant Thursday and Friday, then participated fully Saturday.
Barkley has 182 rushing yards and no touchdowns through four games this season. He played fewer than 16% of offensive snaps in half of his appearances. He suffered a stinger at the start of Week 2 against Tennessee and pulled his hamstring in the first quarter of the Week 4 game against the Los Angeles Rams. He won the 2024 Offensive Player of the Year award.
On 36 carries this season, Barkley has averaged 5.1 yards per rush. Other Eagles running backs have averaged 2.8 yards across 71 attempts. Dameon Pierce carried 12 times last week against Carolina for 35 yards and a touchdown. The Eagles have won four straight home games against Dallas, tied for the second-longest such streak in team history, and seven of their last eight home primetime games.
Week 7 concludes Monday night in Philadelphia.
